Photo Dump: Huzzah 1780 LW Tournament

This past Saturday, we had a 1780 open LW tournament at Huzzah. We had 20 people show up, 10 axis and 10 allies. Overall I think everyone had fun. Lots of good games, lots of good people, and too many doughnuts.
Look at these happy people

Photodump: Huzzah DZC Tournament

Well, my pictures are so scattered I don't really have any battle reports to write. I was constantly jumping between tables to take pictures of the games going on, so I'm just going to leave them all here.

We had five brave souls who came out. We were originally planning on eight, but two dropped at the last minute and one no-showed. We elected to play a three round "causal semi-tournament", with matchmaking more focused on playing against new people than standings.

Armies were:

  • Q - Scourge (Dessies in lights, lots of prowlers, double tank, double AA)
  • Joe - Scourge (Random hodgepodge of whatever he could find in my Scourge case+lots of basic boots in light dropships)
  • Kyle - UCM (Lots of boots in light dropships, Drone base, full nine-tank spearhead)
  • Steve - Shaltari (Eight walkers!)
  • Myself - My standard UCM
The only board I took a picture of. Sadly it's the one you've seen on this blog many a times - no board shots of my new boards made with Hawk tiles =(

Q's Scourge

Wolverines on the prowl

A mass Steve's Shaltari emerges!

UCM blobbing

Praetorians vs Braves, Round One, FIGHT!

Rapiers bringing their mobile cover

More Wolverines on the prowl. Complete with HumVee sound effects, I promise.

Steve's walkers getting in the thick of it

The Raven didn't crash in to the building, I swear!

Q dropping off some basic boots

Praetorian snipers taking the field

More mobile cover from my own transport. 40k, you have taught me well.

This is looking....grim...for the Legionairres

Prowlers on the...prowl?

Starsprite drones doing what they do best

Gotta cull those drone hordes!

Scourge armor facing off against Kyles UCM phalanx

Munch munch...

Suprise...targets!

Dirty, dirty tormentors. Oh how Simon taught me to...love....them.

Chompin' on some more metal

They just keep coming!

Scourge proving overwhelming for Kyle's armor

Better watch out little grav tanks...we all know what pops out of that Gaia...

Some of Joe's own dropships that he didn't have to borrow

I'm so glad the Hawk tiles have parking spots for all those cars I bought...

Time to deploy!

Poor Raven never stoof a chance

Interceptors comin' in for the Ferrum

As does the bomber, which takes some fire from the Rapiers behind. Thank goodness for armor 7!

Rather than fight a CQB, we just ended up shooting machine guns across the building for a few turns.

At first, you'd think this was a good position for the Desolator....

Huzzah Hobbies 1500 Market Garden Tournament Photo Dump

Thanks to Bill and the boys for running another damn fine event. I took British Paras - 2 platoons of boots, a big blob of engineers, 4x 6pdrs and 8x 75mm pack howitzers. My usual. I did alright, winning two and losing one. I didn't take too many pictures today - I was super tired.

Huzzah MW 1550 Photo Dump

Some pictures from the Huzzah 1550 MW tournament. As per usual, I started out with lots of pictures that decreased as the day went on.

I took a fairly anti-infantry Rota list.

I played Bruce with Hungarian tanks in round one. It was by far my closest match of the day, and a very tight game. It ended with a game-saving air strike on my behalf, forcing a 4+ company morale that he passed, winning 4-3 in his favor.

Round two I played Chuck, playing a light panzer co. I got overun pretty hard, but still pulled out a 4-3 loss in his favor.

Round three I played against Paul, who was playing a PZ3/PZ4 mixed co. I pulled out a 5-2 win with the help of some lucky air strikes and failed bogged tests on his behalf.

This event, run by Bill Dorais, was my first (and I think everyone's first) FoW tournament with chess clocks. They seemed to be well received. I'm still on the fence about incorporating them into NOVA.

Made Bruce deploy up on a hill in Breakthrough!

Well, these mortars won't last long.

Bruce has this flag that he sticks in a random terrain piece each game. I think it's a nice touch.

Look at the mess of dead tanks...

This air strike is going to hurt....

Shh. Those totally aren't A&A tanks.

A game winning double bog that allowed my infantry assault to force a company morale.
