Another Historicon down, another Photodump blog post. This about sums up driving from DC to Fredericksburg.

Photodump: Las Vegas Open 2015

Last weekend I flew out to Vegas for the Las Vegas Open, mainly to hang out with the Hawk guys and play in a DZC tournament. Sadly, I didn't take as many pictures as I intended to - it followed the usual tons of pictures on day 1, very few on day 2, and none of day 3. Oh well, Figured I'd post them up here anyway.

Now That's What I Call an Army: UCM Army #2

Still have another 12 stands of Legionnaires to finish, but I won't be getting to them for a long while, and am delivering the rest of the army today, so here's what I got!

DZC: Abandoned Cars

"Painted" up a bunch of cars for DZC. We'd been using them straight out of the box, but I got tired of hearing all the comments about "Why are all the abandoned cars in pristine condition during a planetary invasion?"

Combined with the face that I'm now building a ruined city table...here we go!

DZC: Shaltari Reinforcements

Remnants of a Shaltari starter box I picked up second hand. I don't really need anymore gates, but it was cheap and I'll make use of the Tomahawks.

Dropzone Commander: PHR Reinforcements

A few PHR reinforcements. Two Apollo strike walkers and an Athena interceptor. The masks more or less failed on these models too, but I salvaged them by hand. They're not great, but they'll do for an army I don't intend to play a lot.

Photodump: Templecon 2014

This past weekend Joe and I packed the car and trekked up to Providence, RI for Templecon 2014. Of all the conventions I go to yearly, Templecon is by far my favorite. I didn't play any Flames of War this year; I pretty much spent four days play DZC, chatting about DZC, loitering around the DZC booth, and playing other games with the creators of DZC.

More UCM Reinforcements - The Air Cav

With the GenCon DZC tournament around the corner, I've been painting up some bits and bobs for my UCM.

Photodump: Huzzah DZC Tournament

Well, my pictures are so scattered I don't really have any battle reports to write. I was constantly jumping between tables to take pictures of the games going on, so I'm just going to leave them all here.

We had five brave souls who came out. We were originally planning on eight, but two dropped at the last minute and one no-showed. We elected to play a three round "causal semi-tournament", with matchmaking more focused on playing against new people than standings.

Armies were:

  • Q - Scourge (Dessies in lights, lots of prowlers, double tank, double AA)
  • Joe - Scourge (Random hodgepodge of whatever he could find in my Scourge case+lots of basic boots in light dropships)
  • Kyle - UCM (Lots of boots in light dropships, Drone base, full nine-tank spearhead)
  • Steve - Shaltari (Eight walkers!)
  • Myself - My standard UCM
The only board I took a picture of. Sadly it's the one you've seen on this blog many a times - no board shots of my new boards made with Hawk tiles =(

Q's Scourge

Wolverines on the prowl

A mass Steve's Shaltari emerges!

UCM blobbing

Praetorians vs Braves, Round One, FIGHT!

Rapiers bringing their mobile cover

More Wolverines on the prowl. Complete with HumVee sound effects, I promise.

Steve's walkers getting in the thick of it

The Raven didn't crash in to the building, I swear!

Q dropping off some basic boots

Praetorian snipers taking the field

More mobile cover from my own transport. 40k, you have taught me well.

This is looking....grim...for the Legionairres

Prowlers on the...prowl?

Starsprite drones doing what they do best

Gotta cull those drone hordes!

Scourge armor facing off against Kyles UCM phalanx

Munch munch...

Suprise...targets!

Dirty, dirty tormentors. Oh how Simon taught me to...love....them.

Chompin' on some more metal

They just keep coming!

Scourge proving overwhelming for Kyle's armor

Better watch out little grav tanks...we all know what pops out of that Gaia...

Some of Joe's own dropships that he didn't have to borrow

I'm so glad the Hawk tiles have parking spots for all those cars I bought...

Time to deploy!

Poor Raven never stoof a chance

Interceptors comin' in for the Ferrum

As does the bomber, which takes some fire from the Rapiers behind. Thank goodness for armor 7!

Rather than fight a CQB, we just ended up shooting machine guns across the building for a few turns.

At first, you'd think this was a good position for the Desolator....

Some DZC, French, and a Cake

So posting has been a bit sparse. I've been up to a lot of video games recently (Path of Exile and Eve), so there hasn't been a ton of modelling done.

I did have a recent birthday, and my wife made me a tank-cake:

Luckily she took some old PSC tanks instead of the heavier metal ones that probably would have sunk in the frosting!
Painted up some DZC Scourge Corsair interceptors. They're probably the worse interceptor in the game (Simon would disagree!) but I think they look cool.

And last but not least, I painted up some French vehicles during SnowQuester. I bought these on a commission at Huzzah ($150 for the below, along with 2 additional Somuas and 4 additional Hotchkiss). I couldn't turn down such a deal - they were pre-assembled, so I took it as a speed painting challenge. Five hours total - 4 hours painting, and one hour on decals and weathering. Not too shabby quality for such a quick job =)

So what's new on my plate? I'm working on an Early War Polish "Black Brigade" army using True North figures. Expect a few posts on those coming up soon. Also have a 28mm Black Brigade force in the pipe for Bolt Action - look for a Tankette to be posted up on BoltAction.net soon!
